LOCAL AND PERSONAL
New features at Crater Lake this season include a barber shop in the hotel which will be operated by Jack Reter of Jacksonville, the serving of fresh milk and cream from six Jersey cows which the Crater Lake management keep at Anna Spring camp, and nine saddle horses which are kept for hire. The management now furnishes saddle horses for those persons who do not want to walk the two miles over the snow, which is as far as autos can go at present, to the lake rim.

C. A. DeVoe arrived back in the city from Eugene last evening with his Chevrolet car, which was stolen last Sunday night, and the plunder which the same thieves stole from the home of John Linville on the Pacific Highway later the same night while the family was absent in this city, consisting of a shotgun, leather handbag, two watches and several quilts. This plunder was found in the DeVoe car, which the thieves abandoned in Eugene.

Two automobiles loaded with moving picture machines and other equipment passed through here today, headed for Crater Lake, where pictures of the attraction will be taken. The cars were from the Kiser studio in Portland and were being piloted by MR. Kiser and his son. In the party were Mr. and Mrs. Perkin Eaton of Boston. Mr. Eaton is a writer of much note and will probably get some inspirations from the lake. Mr. Kiser intends to erect a studio at Crater Lake and will capitalize the scenery of this part of the state, both in scenic films and in photoplays. — Grants Pass Courier.

Fair weather is the prediction for Sunday, and is also the present outlook for over the Fourth. There was quite a drop in temperature late yesterday afternoon and last night, the maximum of yesterday afternoon being 75.5. The minimum temperature of this morning was 39.

The public market today was a good one with lots of cherries and loganberries and a few crates of red raspberries on sale. There was also a plentiful supply of chickens, both hens and fryers.

M. L. Burford, a traveling salesman from San Francisco changed his plea of not guilty to guilty, in Justice Taylor’s court, of overtaking and passing a vehicle on June 29th on the highway between Gold Hill and Central Point. He was fined $10 and costs. He had made preparations to fight the case with A. E. Reames as his attorney, but changed his plea when he learned that State Motor Traffic Inspector McMahon planned to bring other auto violation charges against him.

Bert R. Greer, editor of the Tidings, and family, returned yesterday by auto from Long Beach, Calif., accompanied by Mrs. Viola Hall, sister of Mrs. Greer, and Miss Georgia Coffee, business manager of the Tidings, who has been spending the past month in southern California visiting Mrs. Greer.—Ashland Tidings.

Six families arrived at the city auto camp yesterday from various parts of the Pacific coast, with the expectation of locating in Medford or vicinity.
