FSU football: 3 areas need continued improvement after bye-week - Chop Chat

FSU football had one of its best Saturdays in a while, although they didn’t play because of the bye-week. Florida and Miami lost their games, and Clemson doesn’t look like an elite team after watching them survive Syracuse.

The bye-week came at the perfect time as many players needed time to let some nagging injuries heal. It also gave the coaches time to get out on the road and visit recruiting targets and commits, as we’re only two months away from the early signing period.

The back-to-back conference wins gave the coaches something positive to point towards as they contact recruits and their parents. It’s proof of concept and momentum as they should make it three consecutive wins when they return to action against UMASS next week. FSU made some great strides since the second half of the Louisville game.

We’ve seen fewer penalties, fewer turnovers, and better execution on both sides of the ball. However, there is still room for improvement if the Noles want to make a statement in the second half of the season.

The stars are aligning for FSU to do the unthinkable if they can play at a high level. The question is, which can this FSU team play consistently? Are they closer to the team that beat UNC or the team that lost to Jacksonville State?

The truth is somewhere in the middle, but the health of several players has been a factor in FSU’s improved performances. Here are three areas we need to see continued improvement after the bye-week.
