Schotts told Gazzetta: “We spoke this morning (yesterday). He joked, he was in a good mood, I found him fine. We all want to understand what happened to him, he wants to do it too: the doctors are carrying out in-depth examinations, it will take time.
“He was happy because he understood how much love is around. Messages have reached him from all over the world. And he was particularly impressed by those of the Inter world: not only the teammates he heard through the chat, but also the fans. Christian doesn't give up.
“He and his family want their thanks to everyone,” Schoots added.
“Also, tomorrow (Monday) he will remain under observation, perhaps even on Tuesday. But in any case he wants to cheer on his teammates against Belgium.
“He worried about us. He asked us: ‘How are you? I think you are in worse shape than me! I would now be ready to train’."
What happened?
Eriksen went down in the 43rd minute of the Euro 2020 match between Denmark and Finland. It quickly became clear the situation was serious and the game was suspended for over 90 minutes while the 29-year-old was assessed and treated.
After being treated by medics on the pitch, Eriksen was then transferred to a Copenhagen hospital where he was “stabilised”. The match was then cleared to resume.
Having been goalless before the stoppage, the game finished 1-0 to Finland with Joel Pohjanpalo heading home to give the Fins their first win at a major tournament on their debut.
