Social distance circles are simple and very effective. They not only show the proper distance between individuals or small groups, they also serve as an indication to help keep everyone within a easily visible boundary. They can essentially be implemented at no cost in parks to clue everyone as to what is appropriate when “nesting.”
Imagine this concept implemented on beaches where groups have had to constantly “guess” what is appropriate! (It may not last past a high tide, but a sandy beach-full of simple large circles could be quickly “stamped-out” in the sand to designate appropriate stationary spots to gather on the beach.)
Why not give this a try?

The Sentinel welcomes your letters to the editor. Letters should be short, no more than 150 words. We do not accept anonymous letters. Letter-writers should include their full name as well as a street address and telephone number. We don’t publish those details in the newspaper, but need the information for verification purposes. Occasionally, we reject letters simply because we’ve had so many on the same subject. Submit your letters online at www.santacruzsentinel.com/submit-letters.
