People who buy shoes at Alabama-based Mountain High Outfitters can also pick a first responder or health care worker who will get a free pair donated by the company.

The "Buy One, Give One" program runs through May 15. Here's how it works:

  • Shop in store at the Mountain High Outfitters location at 7264 Eastchase Parkway, any of the chain's 12 other locations, or online at mountainhighoutfitters.com.
  • Buy one of these four brands of shoes: ON Footwear, HOKA, Birkenstock (excluding Eva) or Salomon.
  • If you're shopping online, enter the code "GIVEONE" at checkout and the company will contact you for the recipient's information.
  • If you're shopping in store, tell the staff the name and details of the person you want to get a free pair of shoes.

They'll get an e-gift card good for a pair of shoes from one of the four featured brands at a value at or below the price you paid for yours.

Company founder Christopher Groom said he launched the deal to help with the long, stressful shifts being worked by those on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. "We are hoping to really make an impact, and create a more comfortable work day," Groom said in a release.

The outdoor gear and apparel specialist is open seven days a week. The phone number for the Montgomery store is 334-356-4252.
