Sometimes it’s hard to find the words to celebrate the woman who has been the most important figure in our lives since the day we were born. So, why not turn to the music.

Some of today’s biggest pop stars and the greatest music artists of all time have created tributes to their moms that are timeless. Here’s to all the mother’s out there on a happy, quarantined Mother’s Day.

Taylor Swift - ‘The Best Day’

The second to last track on Taylor Swift’s sophomore album is perhaps the most touching, as Swift sings about childhood memories driven by the warmth of a mother’s heart.

2pac - ‘Dear Mama’

The late, great Tupac Shakur was an artist defined by two sides of his personality. There was the scathing lyricist who could rip other emcees apart on tracks like “Hit Em Up.” Then there was 2pac’s sensitive side, best showcased on songs like “Dear Mama,” an ode to his mother Afeni, who passed away earlier this week.

Elvis Presley - ‘Mama Liked Roses’

Elvis’ moving ballad was released on his 1970 Christmas album as a dedication to mothers who were no longer with us for the holidays.

Backstreet Boys - ‘The Perfect Fan’

BSB was never shy when it came to sentimentality. The group’s most heartwarming song may have been this gem, dedicated to any musician’s number one fan – his mom: “You showed me how to care / And you showed me that you would always be there.”

Carrie Underwood - ‘Mama’s Song’

Country star Underwood’s ode to her mother is a pretty straightforward recounting of the lessons her elder taught her, like reaching for the stars and knowing how to do the right thing.

Kanye West - ‘Hey Mama’

West released “Hey Mama” in 2005, just two years before his mother passed away. West performed the tune at the 2008 Grammy ceremony, which remains one of the most touching moments in the history of the awards show.

The Spinners - ‘Sadie’

An ode to late moms, who still look over us from up above.

Nas - ‘Dance’

Nas is often at his best when he wears his heart on his sleeve. That’s certainly the case on this standout from Nas’ 2002 album where he longs for one more dance with his mother.

Justin Bieber - ‘Turn To You’

Perhaps Bieber should listen to his own humbling Mother’s Day dedication from just two years ago in an attempt to regain his footing. The song is a moving testament to his mother, who stood alongside Bieber long before he became a polarizing star.

Metallica - ‘Mama Said’

Even a metal group like Metallica isn’t immune from tugging at our heart strings with a song about the lessons mom teaches.

Blake Shelton - ‘The Baby’

Shelton’s touching tribute is about the fact that no matter how old we get, our parents will always see us as their little boy or girl.

Boyz II Men - ‘A Song for Mama’

Originally written for the “Soul Food” soundtrack, “A Song for Mama” was Boyz II Men’s last major hit. The Babyface-produced song, which has become a mainstay on Mother’s Day, has far outlasted the film’s relevance in pop culture.

Christina Aguilera - ‘Oh Mother’

Aguilera’s ode to her mom is a promise that no matter how big she gets or what they go through the two of them will always have each other.

The Beatles - ‘Julia’

One of the most personal songs John Lennon ever wrote for the Beatles is about his mom, Julia, who passed away in 1958.

Mac Miller - ‘I’ll Be There’

Late rapper Mac Miller took time out from his fun-loving rhymes to pay homage to his mother and the fact that now that he’s grown and making money, he’ll return the favor for all the love she gave him.
