ultrasimi.blogspot.com

August is Black Philanthropy Month and today is Give 8/28 (previously referred to as Give Black Day), which encourages giving to Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofits. Give 8/28 is organized by the Young, Black & Giving Back Institute in Washington, D.C. + this year, the Central Carolina Community Foundation (CCCF) is a sponsor.

This Give 8/28, Young, Black & Giving Back Institute has set a goal for 500 Black-led and benefiting organizations to raise $250,000. To help increase the impact of today’s giving, CCCF will award $500 grants to 10 local nonprofits that raise $500 or more.

All month CCCF and the African American Philanthropy Committee have been celebrating with live streams on their Facebook page each Friday morning at 10 a.m. The streams feature live interviews that tell stories and spark community conversations.

In celebration of Give 8/28, today CCCF will host interviews of Midlands Black-led and benefiting nonprofits throughout the day – at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Tune in to hear from Talented Tenth, Free Thinkers Radio, Ivy Heritage of Irmo, Auntie Karen Foundation, Midlands Fatherhood Coalition, Big Homie Lil Homie Mentoring, Sowing Seeds, and The Hive here.

Are you looking to support a local Black-led or Black-benefiting nonprofit organization? Here’s a list from Midlands Gives + here’s a list of local nonprofits that support the Black community that we put together . Donations can also be made here.
