With the holiday events and #TuesdayGiving just passed, it is easy to lose track of time. The first of two local blood drives has arrived in Indian Valley. From noon to 5:30 p.m. today, donors can give a unique and special gift—a pint of blood for those in need. The Greenville Community Blood Drive will be held in the small cafeteria/multipurpose building between the high school and the elementary school along Grand Street off Highway 89. Appointments are helpful but not required. Walk-in donors are welcomed. If you have questions, call or text Sheri Schwartz at 661-435-7250.
Don’t dismay if you can’t make it today. The Quincy Blood Drive is next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Jesus Christ Church of Latter-day Saints next to the hospital. Susan Christansen (530-243-2424), that blood drive coordinator, can help you with questions or to set up appointments. The two-day drive has appointments Tuesday afternoon from noon to 6 p.m. or Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Vitalant is one of the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit community blood service providers. They supply blood transfusion medicine services to nearly 1,000 hospitals and health care partners for patients across 40 states. Vitalant focuses on making sure enough blood is available for patients when and where they need it. And it couldn’t be done it without you as blood donors!
Please be sure to bring a photo ID and your mask. Eat a healthy breakfast and drink lots of water. Bring a jacket or blanket to throw over your knees if you get chilly. If possible, go onto Vitalant.com to complete a Fast Track on the morning you donate to cut down health survey time when checking in. Most important, do your best to attend one of these donation events or find a donation site in Susanville or Reno. You really are needed.
