Dear Carolina Community,
We are continuing to see consistent and positive trends in our on-campus COVID-19 response thanks to your hard work. You can read more about the successful campus-wide effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the Sept. 24 edition of The Well. Some important statistics for review:
- The University Clinic has vaccinated nearly 5,000 Carolina Community members.
- Between Sept. 20 and Sept. 26, the CTTP processed 4,446 tests with a 0.54% positivity rate. The symptomatic testing produced a 4% positivity rate.
Most of the positive student cases we have identified in our community experience relatively mild, cold-like symptoms. Campus Health has not received any reports of student hospitalizations due to COVID-19 this semester. We continue to recommend that vaccinated individuals test no more than one time each week.
Beginning Oct. 4, faculty and staff who have not attested to receiving a COVID-19 vaccination will be required to participate in once weekly testing though the Carolina Together Testing Program.
COVID-19 Vaccine Incentives
We are giving away digital Carolina Together Ambassadors Golden Tickets to all students, faculty and staff who have completed the vaccine certification form before Oct. 1. Between Oct. 1 and Nov. 26, there will be weekly drawings to distribute prizes, including 570 Student Stores gift cards. On November 5, there will be special drawings for Carolina basketball tickets and a VIP Nike prize package.
Preparing for Flu Season – Get Your Shot
Being vaccinated against influenza will help reduce the overall burden of respiratory diseases and help conserve health care resources. Campus clinics have given 1,768 flu shots this season. If you do not obtain your flu vaccination on campus but obtain one through your primary care provider or at a community pharmacy or clinic, you can still self-report compliance.
