Philadelphia 76ers guard George Hill has had an up and down 2020-21 season. He started off with the rebuilding Oklahoma City Thunder and he was playing well before he decided to undergo a procedure on the thumb on his shooting hand to correct an issue that was bothering him in January.

He was then traded to the Sixers on March 25, but he did not make his debut until late April as he continued his recovery from the procedure. He ended up playing 16 regular-season games for Philadelphia and he shot 39.1% from deep.

Fast forward to the playoffs and the thumb is still bothering him, but he is shooting very well in the postseason. He is shooting 7-for-12 from deep in eight playoff games and that is something that the Sixers will definitely take as he continues to work through his recovery.

“It’s feeling better,” said Hill. “Having the thumb and on your shooting hand and things like that, it’s still not a lot of movement in it. [It] can kind of play its part, but just staying mentally focused, staying positive.”

Hill is a veteran who has been through a lot of adversity in this league so this is just another thing he has to overcome, but he has been very good in this postseason and he has fulfilled what the Sixers have asked of him thus far and that is to knock down triples on one end and play solid defense on the other.

“I’ve always been a big believer if you stay positive things will start to turn,” he added. “Just wait for a great opportunity. Continue to chip away and do the best I can.”
