WHERE MEDFORD SCHOOL TEACHERS WILL SPEND SUMMER VACATION

The teachers in the Medford school for the past year will be scattered far and wide this summer, but most will be back to resume teaching next fall. Quite a number of the present staff will either teach elsewhere this year or will give up teaching.

Superintendent of Schools Aubrey Smith will remain here for two weeks or more clearing up school matters, and will be absent for the summer, going first to California, Mo., his former home, to visit his parents, and from there to Des Moines, Ia., to attend the annual convention of the National Education Association. From there he will go to Chicago to take some work at the University of Chicago.

Herewith is related just how the teachers will spend the summer.

The High School Staff

Principal O. R. Campbell — Plans to spend the entire summer in Medford, acting part of the time as auto salesman.

C. D. Thompson — Expects to continue on the job most of the time; looking after the 25 projects being carried on in the agricultural work being done by the boys. Expects to collect material and make plans for the coming year’s work. Will probably attend summer school at the O. A. C. part of the time.

C. T. Stewart — Will take a few sight seeing trips and then spend the balance of the summer at various tasks about Medford.

Ira E. Schuler — Will remain in Medford during the summer and is considering various propositions.

Burton Strock — Will attend the Rose festival in Portland, and will then spend ten weeks in Denver as a member of the Denver municipal band before returning here in the fall.

Chas. A. King — Will be employed by Mr. Schuler to do carpenter work in Medford during the summer, and will then go to Roseburg where he will be at the head of manual training and coach of the high school athletics next year.

Otto Klum — Will look after various matters here until August when he leaves for Honolulu to assume his new duties as coach of the University of Hawaii.

E. M. Hussong — Will garden, botanize, build, draw and study at home, take a course in motor mechanics, get over to Crater Lake and expects to be as fresh a as a daisy when school opens next fall.

A. Lindas — Plans call for clerical work and tutoring in Tacoma for the summer. Will teach Latin and other academic subjects and coach debating teams in Tacoma.
