GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Go Big Give’s pre-give campaign kicked off on Monday. The annual day of charity is hosted by Heartland United Way and the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation.
This year they had seven non-profits join in the fundraiser making it their biggest year yet with 142 organizations.
“Every year its grown,” Heartland United Way Director Karen Rathke said. “142 non-profits is just the icing on the cake. It’s grown and we’re just excited to welcome some new ones.”
They’ve also had a record-breaking number of sponsors, with more than $90,000 in matched donations.
“Without the go big give sponsors, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do,” Rathke said. “This year we have a record in match pool funds, we have $90,000 in match pool funds and $46,000 in incentive for places to grow during Go Big Give.’
Pre-give will continue through May 5. Then the big day is on May 6.
