The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday to discuss the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

They’re expected to vote on whether the reported blood clot cases are significant enough to pause or continue use.

All 50 states have suspended the use of Johnson & Johnson.

Six women between the ages of 18 and 48 reported blood clots within two weeks after receiving the vaccine. As of now, one of the women has died and another is in critical condition.

Healthcare professionals say the pause is out of an abundance of caution and there shouldn’t be much fear in the vaccine going forward.

The pause is expected to only last a few days or weeks as long as no further issues are discovered.

Almost 200,000 Johnson & Johnson doses have been administered in Michigan.

For people who recently got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, the FDA recommends keeping an eye out for issues within three weeks after vaccination.

They say to contact your doctor if you experience severe headaches, abdominal pain, leg pain or shortness of breath.
