LOUISVILLE, Ky. — "Give for Good," is the largest one-day fundraising event of the year in Kentucky.
Now in its seventh year, "Give For Good," orchestrated by the Community Foundation of Louisville," helps hundreds of non-profits raise money.
Molly Melia of CFL says the effort has already been an online effort but amid a pandemic, her organization has enhanced its live-streaming presence.
“So what we have done is we’ve made sure to work with the non-profits and coach them on how to better fundraise and utilize this platform to be as successful as possible," Melia said.
Last year more than 19,000 donations raised $6.8 million and by the afternoon on Thursday "Give for Good 2020" was on pace to raise more than $6 million or more.
One of the many non-profit organizations benefiting from the fundraising is Louisville Visual Art. One of its many programs provides art supplies to students and offers virtual art lessons. Executive director Kristian Anderson says maintaining art programs is especially important during times like these.
“Artistic skills you learn as a child are something that will benefit you for the rest of your life and artistic appreciation just opens the world to that shared experience and that shared joy and makes it all a little easier to get through," Anderson said.
