ALEXANDRIA, VA – The city will provide additional rent and mortgage relief to eligible residents, using an initial $450,000 of funds from the Virginia Rent and Mortgage Relief Program to support housing stability during the pandemic.
The Department of Community and Human Services will administer the funds. These funds are in addition to amounts received from the CARES Act and the Community Development Block grant.
Financial assistance is a one-time payment. There is an opportunity for renewal, based on availability of funding, and a household’s need for additional assistance..Eligible households must demonstrate that, as a result of the pandemic, rent and mortgage cannot be paid.
To determine, eligibility, residents can take a self-assessment survey HERE.. It is available in English or Spanish. After completing the assessment, call 703-746-5700 to apply.
Those who receive funding will also be connected to resources such as housing counseling.
