DANBURY — The plea hearing of the Bethel man accused of sexually assaulting two children has been continued to August.
Santos Cardona, 45, is facing two counts of first-degree sexual assault, one count of illagel sexual contact and one count of risk of injury to child for allegedly assaulting two children.
Bethel police said they launched an investigation after a complaint was filed by the parent of an 8-year-old girl who told the parent she had been molested while at Cardona’s residence.
“During the course of the investigation another juvenile female victim was identified. The 6-year-old victim also disclosed that she had been molested by Cardona,” police said in a statement.
Following their investigation, police obtained a warrant for Cardona’s arrest and took him into custody May 9.
Cardona is being held at the New Haven Correctional Center on a $100,000 bond, and his plea hearing at state Superior Court in Danbury is scheduled for Aug. 17.
