Back to school, graduation and the latest financial audit are among the topics the Roswell Independent School District Board of Education will hear about at its regular meeting Tuesday night.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Administrative and Educational Services Complex, 300 N. Kentucky.

Only board members and a small number of support staff will be in attendance due to the state’s health order. The meeting will be livestreamed on the district’s YouTube channel.

Superintendent Mike Gottlieb will give an update on RISD’s return to full-time classes as well as information on graduation in his report near the end of the meeting.

The board will also hear a report and vote on accepting the fiscal year 2019-2020 annual financial audit. A letter from the New Mexico State Auditor’s Office indicates the report is not yet public record and its website lists the audit as “in review.”

Other items the board is scheduled to take action on at Tuesday’s meeting include:

• A funding application for the State Bilingual Multicultural Education Program.

• The proposed 2021-2022 school year calendar.

• Nomination for the New Mexico School Board Association Scholarship Program.

• First readings for revisions to the district social media policy and volunteers policy.

• Recommendations for banking service, bond and financial advisory services, and bond legal council services.

• Adoption of English language arts textbooks.

Non-action items on the board’s agenda include:

• Recognition of José Gurrola from New Mexico Rehabilitation Center for a donation of two new examination beds, Spring River Dental for volunteers and a donation for the pre-school roundup, and the district nursing staff.

An executive session is planned at the end of the meeting for limited personnel matters, for a request for arbitration and to finalize interview questions for superintendent candidates.

Special meetings are planned for the interviews later this month, with an announcement of the new superintendent expected April 26 or 27.
