Young amputee, family give back by sharing gifts with hospital patients - KSTP

"When he received a John Deere tractor, he was just so excited. It was the coolest gift in the world to him," Chris Young, Liam's father, said.

So now, years after the amputations, Young's family works to make all hospital visits as positive as they can – even when he's getting new prosthetics. They make that possible by cheering up other children in the hospital with more John Deere toys.

"He's always excited to give toys at the hospital. He's probably one of the (only) kids I know that gets excited to go to the hospital because most of his care team is like family to us," Young said.

Altogether, they've donated more than 400 toys to children throughout the Midwest.

"The reason I do it is I just see how happy it made Liam when he was in the hospital. And if we can do that for one other kid, our goal is made," Young said. "That's the main thing: kids go through a lot. Whatever we can do, big or small, it's worth it."
