Starting Friday, Nov. 6, library visitors will need to book an appointment via online form, email or phone. The library will also offer curbside pickup service and have Wi-Fi access available from the parking lot.
The city of West Fargo closed all public buildings except the library, to the public on Oct. 19, after Gov. Doug Burgum elevated Cass County's risk level to orange, one step below red or critical.
On Wednesday, Nov. 4, a release from the city communications department said the library would be changing its services as a safety precaution for the public and staff.
Starting Thursday, Nov. 5, an appointment to visit the library can be scheduled at westfargolibrary.org by calling (701) 551-8940; or emailing askus@westfargond.gov.
Each appointment is 30 minutes. Guests can use any service, sign up for a library card, learn about digital access to library services or use computers during the visit. Appointments will help staff monitor the building’s capacity and facilitate social distancing between patrons.
Curbside pickup will begin Friday, Nov. 6.
To use the curbside pickup service, place a request for items using the online library catalog, emailing askus@westfargond.gov or calling (701) -551-8940. Notifications will be sent when a request is ready.
The library hours of operation will also be adjusted. The library will be open for appointments from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday and Saturday.
The library will close Sundays.
The library will continue to operate this way until Cass County returns to the yellow, moderate risk level.
The West Fargo Public Library will continue adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols. This includes hosting events and programming virtually, strongly encouraging guests to wear face coverings and sanitizing frequently. Social distancing is encouraged at all times.
