Celebrate the holiday season this year at Give Kids the World. For the first time ever, the children’s charity will be hosting Night of a Million Lights, a walk-through experience where families can view millions of twinkling lights as far as the eye can see.
Give Kids the World, located in Kissimmee, FL, provides families with critically ill children an all inclusive, week-long vacation. Everything from meals, to transportation, to theme park tickets are included during their stay at one of their villas.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however, the organization has been unable to house families for the past several months. Now, Give Kids the World has created a festive experience for the public in order to fund more wishes for children once they are able to reopen. The event began its planning phase in July and install began in early September.
Recently, we were invited on a behind the scenes tour of Night of a Million Lights, prior to its opening day. Take a look!
The entrance as you pull into the Give Kids the World Village is full of whimsy!
The entrance welcomes you home.
We found fun details throughout the village, including painted fire hydrants. Can anybody tell me who this one is painted as?
The difference is day and night after crews continue hanging the lights on the House of Hearts Welcome Center.
Here is the backside of the Welcome Center.
Towne Hall is all decked out. Looks like someone is trying to deliver some presents!
Here you can see the Castle of Miracles along with the ever popular Enchanted Carousel underneath a giant mushroom. All rides here are fully accessible and included with admission during Night of a Million Lights.
Ice cream is included with every admission. During a child’s stay at the villas, they receive as much ice cream at Henry’s Starlight Scoops Pop-Up Ice Cream Parlor as they care to enjoy all day long!
Here is Miss Pitty Pat’s Garden of Hope & Butterfly Garden.
At the center of the garden is Mayor Clayton’s Cottage. Did we mention the mayor is a rabbit?
Some more areas continue to be worked on for opening day. The large circle above Julie’s Safari Theater will soon have some charming projections on it.
Everywhere you turn, you find something delightfully unexpected.
Not only are some of the village’s main attractions and buildings covered in lights, but 45 villas are too. Each villa has a different treasured sponsor decorate their building however they like. See if you can spot the LEGO, Crayola, and Margaritaville villas!
Tropical paradise in the winter? Yes, please!
Looks like these folks were able to really build their own winter wonderland.
Don’t forget your comfortable sneakers because this walk-through experience is longer than the distance around World Showcase in EPCOT!
You can purchase tickets for this event, taking place November 13th – January 3rd, through the Give Kids the World website.
Some of you may even recall back in August when WDWNT hosted our own charity event to benefit this truly wonderful organization, where we raised over $12,000 for critically ill children. You can watch the video below.
