Curley: Give power back to parents over kids and masks - Boston Herald

ultrasimi.blogspot.com

Another school year is approaching and unfortunately too many American children will be forced to wear masks again.

Fox News’ Peter Doocy recently asked White House press secretary Jen Psaki about the  psychological effects these masks could be having on kids.

According to Psaki, this is a non-issue.

“My rising kindergartner told me two days ago,” she said sharply, “she could wear a mask all day  and she’s just happy to go to camp and go to school.”

This is a recurring theme among liberals.

True Karens, like Jen, are proud that their kids have been so brainwashed by this strange new normal that they are no longer bothered by the face coverings.

So it makes sense that Biden and his caregivers are perturbed by governors who are standing up against the left’s power grab.

For example, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is the perfect focus for the frustrated power-hungry tyrants.

Unlike, say, N.Y. Gov. Andrew Cuomo or Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, DeSantis has never fallen for the panic porn pushed by fear-mongering “experts.”

Instead, he opted to keep the Sunshine State opened for most of the pandemic.

Much to the chagrin of the would-be hall monitors at CNN, the Republican governor has also never been a fan of robbing kids of their childhoods.

“We need our kids to breathe. We need our kids to be able to be kids.”

Can you believe that? Letting kids be kids — what a monster!

If that kind of dangerous hate speech isn’t enough, recently DeSantis also had the audacity to point out the Biden Administration’s hypocritical handling of the Southern border.

After Biden told governors that if they weren’t going to help fight COVID then they should get out of the way, DeSantis came back swingin’.

“Why don’t you do your job? Why don’t you get this border secure? And until you do that, I don’t wanna hear a blip about COVID from you, thank you.”

Later when Biden was questioned by a reporter about the governor, the President joked (I think) that he didn’t know DeSantis.

“Governor who?” he quipped.

Biden might be trying to convince the public he doesn’t care about DeSantis, but he might want to tell his fellow Democrats to cool it with the obsessive coverage of Governor Who.

This week Psaki tweeted at DeSantis.

Chris Cuomo, desperate to avoid discussing the N.Y. AG’s report on his creepy big bro, ranted and raved about DeSantis.

Journalists from The Washington Post and The New York Times, who used to endlessly push the Russia hoax, now wax poetically about the evil ways of Ron DeSantis.

For a nobody Neanderthal — Ron certainly seems to have gotten under the left’s thin skin.

The Democrats’ latest attack against the governor is a tough lie to sell, even for the mainstream media.

They are desperately trying to argue that by banning mask mandates in schools, DeSantis is putting kids in danger.

But this entire narrative is bogus.

Reuters wrote, “Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order on Friday blocking mask mandates in the state’s schools, saying parents had the right to decide if their children would wear face coverings.”

In other words, if a parent thinks that his kindergartner ought to have a mask on while learning to read in school or playing at recess — well, then he or she can make that choice.

The only thing DeSantis’ ban is doing is giving the power back to the parents.  No wonder the Biden Administration hates this idea so much.

Psaki said at her latest press briefing, “I will say as a parent myself of two young children, that I want public health officials to make decisions about how to keep my kids safe, not politicians.”

Hey Jen — what about parents who don’t want either of those groups, politicians or public health officials, making decisions for their kids?

Furthermore, Psaki’s framing of this situation is dishonest.

The governor is not turning over the decision-making from “public health officials” to “politicians.”

He is taking away the decision-making from public health officials and politicians and handing it back over to parents.

But even if Jen Psaki believes the propaganda she is spewing, does she really believe that most Americans feel the same way?

This might come as a shock to Psaki, but not all parents have as much unwavering admiration for and confidence in the flip-floppers at the CDC.

When Dr. Fauci wasn’t changing his opinion on masks, he was lying in Senate hearings about  gain-of-function research.

When he wasn’t throwing pitches in the dirt in front of home plate on opening day, he was appearing on magazine covers and television shows.

Some moms and dads in this country might actually trust their own instincts more than they trust Dr. Rochelle Walensky’s ever-evolving expertise.

It is nice that Psaki has such a high opinion of her fellow unelected hacks, but plenty of Americans neither want nor need highly-paid elitists calling the shots for them — or for their kids.

Jen Psaki and her family can take guidance from the Beautiful People in white lab coats for the rest of their lives for all I care.

But vilifying DeSantis because he believes in giving power back to parents is not the winning message the White House thinks it is.

Adblock test (Why?)
