KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The Kearney Area Community Foundation is warning people that want to contribute to their Give Where You Live drive to not respond to someone calling you. Here is the statement from the Foundation:
“We have been informed of a possible scamming situation. Someone is calling individuals asking for the credit card information over the phone for Give Where You Live. The Foundation and local charities will NOT call you for this information. If you wish to make a donation online, please do so at the foundation web site.”
If you have any questions, you can call the foundation office at (308) 237-3114.
If you think you have been scammed, please call the Kearney Police at (308) 237-2104.
Give Where You Live is a one-day, online fundraising effort by the Kearney Area Community Foundation. There are 178 agencies in the Kearney area that people may direct their donations toward. Their goal for this year is to raise $1 million.
