BLOOMINGTON (HOI) - The holiday season is approaching and with that comes the season of giving.
More than a dozen churches in McLean County and Hy-Vee came together with the goal to provide 2,500 Thanksgiving meal boxes to families in need.
"This has been a rough year for everybody," said Home Sweet Home Ministries Chief Operating Officer, Matt Burgess. "Years like this it's all the more important that we take time and are thankful for what we do have."
The meal boxes will include everything families need to complete their traditional Thanksgiving feast.
The "Big Give" will continue at Hy-Vee in Bloomington next weekend and community members can donate items at the store or online.
However, if you miss the event, Home Sweet Home Ministries will continue to collect items until the week before Thanksgiving.
"Everyone deserves to have a Thanksgiving meal with their family." said donator, Emily Hudelson.
