SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – California State Senator Brian Jones joined Good Morning San Diego Sunday to talk about the protests in his district.
In addition Jones shared his thoughts on reopening California completely.
Thousands of demonstrators filled the streets in San Francisco, Sacramento, Simi Valley, San Diego, Los Angeles and other locations, continuing more than a week of protest marches.
The demonstrations have been boisterous but non-violent. That’s in contrast to last weekend, when some protesters smashed windows, burned police cars and confronted cordons of riot-clad police.
California will allow day camps, bars, gyms, campgrounds and professional sports to begin reopening with precautions in a week.
The state released guidance Friday for counties on reopening a broad range of businesses that have been closed since mid-March to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
It also includes highly anticipated rules for reopening of schools statewide in the fall, including physical distancing, teachers and students wearing masks, and frequent cleaning. The guidance includes rules on hotels, casinos, museums, zoos and aquariums and resuming music, film and television production.
