A week after announcing a new general manager, the Detroit Pistons continue to shake up their executive office by hiring a new chief business officer.

Mike Zavodsky, 36, will take the role overseeing sales, marketing and creative operations for the company effective July 1, the team announced Wednesday. He will report to Vice Chairman Arn Tellem.

Charlie Metzger, who was chief revenue and marketing officer, will move to a role focused on strategy and new ventures, continuing to report to Tellem.

Zavodsky comes to Detroit from Roc Nation LLC, a New York City-based entertainment agency founded by hip hop celebrity Jay-Z. Over the past year, Zavodsky oversaw sales, marketing and public relations for the company.

Before that, he spent 14 years, most recently as chief revenue officer, at Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment, which manages and operates the Barclays Center, the Brooklyn Nets, its NBA G League team, the Long Island Nets, its NBA 2K League affiliate NetsGC and the WNBA's New York Liberty.

His work on the East Coast centered around landing big corporate sponsorships from the likes of American Express, Geico, Calvin Klein, Coca-Cola, Honda, Ticketmaster, Red Bull and Nike.

"We are investing in top leadership talent on both the business and basketball sides of our organization," Pistons owner Tom Gores said in a news release. "Mike is a sharp, innovative executive who will bring a fresh perspective to how we manage our operations and engage our fans. As I've gotten to know Mike, it's also clear he shares our commitment to serving the community and he will be a great asset in Detroit."

The Pistons hired former Oklahoma City Thunder executive Troy Weaver as their new general manager last week. The position had been vacant since the team overhauled their front office two years ago. When the Pistons hired Dwane Casey to replace Stan Van Gundy in 2018, Ed Stefanski took over the front office.

Awenate Cobbina, who was vice president of public and business affairs, is leaving for another job. His duties will be absorbed through a series of promotions effective this week:

Josh Bartelstein, EVP, operations and chief of staff, will continue to support Tellem in all aspects of managing day-to-day business.

Kevin Grigg, SVP, public relations, will continue to oversee all business and basketball public relations.

Richard Haddad, EVP, business affairs and administration and general counsel will oversee all administrative operations, including finance and IT, in addition to business and legal affairs, business development and HR.

Alicia Jeffreys, SVP, marketing, will oversee all marketing and creative operations while driving experiential and activation ideation and execution for ticket members and corporate partners.

Nicolet Lewis, SVP, human resources, will add oversight for community and social responsibility in addition to leading human resources.

Cletus Lewis, VP, public relations, will lead all day-to-day basketball communications efforts for the public relations team.

Paul Rapier, VP, IT, will lead all information technology for the organization, including technology advancement at the Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Performance Center and manage the club's information technology relationship with Little Caesars Arena.

Erika Swilley, VP, community and social responsibility, will continue to lead the community and social responsibility team and execute the organization's programming efforts in the community.
