ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) --

As the pandemic continues, one Wiregrass community is rallying together to support Medical Center Enterprise.

It’s been almost a year since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the nation, but the Enterprise community’s support for their healthcare workers is unwavering

“Since the very beginning in March our community has more than wrapped their arms around us,” Medical Center Enterprise Marketing Director Lisa Fenner said. “From chalk drawings on the sidewalks thanking us for everything we do to businesses around Enterprise donating meals and snacks and water and everything else to our staff, we can definitely feel the love.”

From local restaurants to students hand crafting signs, every act of kindness is appreciated.

“All of the little things that are happening certainly they are big things to us even if it’s a box of donuts that are dropped off by a random stranger,” Fenner added. “The little things like that just makes the staff realize that somebody appreciates what they’re doing.”

After one healthcare worker asked for prayer, one local church answered that request then realized the helping didn’t have to stop there.

“It was almost like a lightbulb clicking on we’ve got to do something to show them support,” Associate Pastor of Enterprise FUMC Matthew Jordan continued. “They’ve been able to manage this so far, they’ve been able to do a lot of things and as the cases increase, we thought the best thing we can do is not just lift them up in prayer but get creative.”

Supplying fresh coffee for staff members at the hospital including shift changes and even first responders was the least they could do to show their frontline workers they’re not alone.

“With all the influx of cases not just here but throughout the state, we were trying to find a safe way to give back,” Jordan explained.

The little acts of kindness, that can mean so much.

“There’s not enough ways for us to say thank you to our community,” Fenner finished.
