SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -- Through over 1,800 contribution, the Siouxland Big Give raised over $120,000 for Siouxland area nonprofits.
On Oct. 6, 100 nonprofits throughout Siouxland signed up to connect with supporters for the third annual Siouxland Big Give, a 24-hour online fundraiser.
This year's money raised beat out last year's record by $5,000 with 30 of the participating nonprofits raising over $1,000 each.
“We are so excited to have raised over $120,000 for so many wonderful projects,” said Katie Roberts, Executive Director of the Siouxland Community Foundation. “This has been a difficult year for fundraising as a whole and, although we remained optimistic, we weren’t quite sure what to expect. It really came down to the final calculations. The Siouxland community heard our collective message of need and answered.”
The Siouxland Community Foundation started the Siouxland Big Give in 2018 in honor of its 30th anniversary. Their goal is to connect people to nonprofits in the community, promote philanthropy in Siouxland by creating an easy avenue for donors to give, and to give back to the community by partnering with smaller organizations who are better able to fundraise for their cause through collective marketing.
Nonprofits who participate in the event covered many different fields of interest including children’s programs, environmental and animal welfare, health, arts and culture, community benefits and veteran services.
