With Illinois just one week away from re-opening further, the Adams County health department is putting out a warning: the virus is still in Quincy and it will continue to spread if people don't take the right measures.
"We have seen three new cases this week so it is definitely still circulating in the community," said Adams County Health Department infectious disease nurse, Betty Coonrod.
Health experts say keeping the virus at bay is simple.
"Masking and social distancing are so important right now," said Coonrod.
But there are those who just want things to go back to the way they were.
"The restrictions are a joke to me. For people to be able to eat outside in an enclosure and not be able to eat inside, it just doesn't make any sense to me," said Quincy resident Mitchell Watson.
Despite having her prom and high school graduation cancelled due to the virus, Hannah Nevin says she still thinks it's important for people to socially distance.
"I don't see how it could hurt. If we don't try we'll never know," she said.
As for masks, she says it's not so much for self protection, as it is for the protection of others.
"If you don't want to wear them for you, wear them for other people. It might not make you feel comfortable but it might make others feel comfortable."
Health experts like Coonrod agree.
"I get it, it's not fun or comfortable, it's not fun to wear it but you know neither is having a loved one on a ventilator. Neither is, you know, having a loved one sick."
The health department says they're conducting contact tracing for those who have been exposed to the virus lately.
