State-run vaccination sites
- 100 Sockanosset Cross Road, Cranston, RI 02920
- Dunkin' Donuts Center, 1 La Salle Square, Providence, RI 02903
Scheduling for these sites will open on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 for appointments beginning Thursday, February 18, 2021. More information about how to make an appointment will be posted to https://ift.tt/3tR1Q9y announced widely on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.
Eligible Rhode Islanders will be able to sign up for appointments online and over the phone in English and Spanish. A person will be able to schedule and consent to vaccination, in-person or by phone, for another person with verbal approval. Appointments will be limited and taken on a first-come, first-served basis. You cannot walk in without an appointment and get vaccinated.
Current vaccine eligibility
Individuals 75 years and older are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination in Rhode Island if they live, work, or go to school in Rhode Island.
Individuals are expected to self-attest that they live, work, or go to school in Rhode Island before they get a vaccine.
Additional groups will be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination in Rhode Island based on Rhode Island’s vaccination timeline and if they live, work, or go to school in Rhode Island.
There is still more vaccine demand than supply. Thus, not everyone 75 years and older will be able to schedule an appointment right away. The more supply we receive each week, the more quickly appointments will become available.
Reminder about ways to get vaccinated
As a reminder, the three ways that people will be able to get vaccinated are (1) State-run vaccination centers, (2) designated local pharmacies, and (3) other local and regional vaccination sites, like clinics run by cities and towns, some hospitals and healthcare systems, community health centers, and other sites in the community. Everyone will follow the same vaccination timeline and eligibility requirements.
2. 83,719 Doses Unused in RI
RIDOH officials continue to struggle to get Rhode Islanders vaccinated. Federal supply continues to increase.
According to the CDC and updated on Friday, RI has now:
Received 208,350 doses
Administered 124,962 doses
Of the vaccine doses received, RI has utilized 62% - More than 70,000 doses have not been utilized
Updated 2/12/2021
3. Biden Administration Secures an Additional 200 Million Doses
President Biden announced Thursday during a tour of the National Institutes of Health, that the U.S. has purchased an addition 200 million doses.
Biden said the U.S. is on track to have enough supply of the vaccine to vaccinate with two doses 300 million Americans by the end of July.
